My own life was transformed by Rolfing® Structural Integration. While in graduate school, I developed severe pain from a series of minor rock climbing injuries. One day I was fine, and the next day I could barely get out of bed. X-rays showed nothing wrong. My doctors could not explain why I hurt or guide me to recovery.

I tried prescription painkillers and muscle relaxants, physical therapy, acupuncture, chiropractic care, and deep-tissue massage. Each modality helped in its own way, if only for a limited time. But I was still not well.

Then, I tried Rolfing Structural Integration. The Rolfer worked on areas of my body that seemed unrelated to my pain. I felt like I was melting on the table as the tension was released. After one session, my pain was almost gone. My neck and arms moved the way they used to. It was like a thorn had been removed, and all of that pain I’d had for six months just unraveled.

I knew right then my goal was to become a Certified Rolfer and to bring the highest level manual therapy to every body. With my PhD studies in molecular, cell, and developmental biology, I had a unique perspective to offer — a background in science and a broad understanding in anatomy and physiology. Not only that, but I had the experiential data of knowing how Rolfing changed my life personally.

At the Midline School of Integrative Bodywork, I trained in Swedish and deep-tissue massage. I also trained in Structural Integration at the Dr. Ida Rolf Institute. I hold certificates in the treatment of common injury, neural and visceral mobilization. My specialties are in Rolfing Structural Integration and working with clientele who have not benefited from traditional approaches.

After a rewarding five years practicing in Santa Cruz, California, I (along with my cat, Juicebox) relocated to Chattanooga and fell in love with the blend of water, hills, and, of course, southern charm! I opened my practice here in 2018 and have had the incredible opportunity to bring Rolfing and Integrative Bodywork, as well as their many benefits, to Chattanoogans over the last several years.

When I’m not working with clients, I’m consistently engaging in continuing education to deepen my knowledge and understanding of human physicality and integration. I also volunteer my time regularly at the Isha Institute’s Rejuvenation Center, providing body therapy for health and wellness.

I love spending time exploring Chattanooga and all of its little details with my wife, Jennifer, and traveling with her often. Another hobby of mine is woodworking. You can see several of my projects at the office. I also maintain an overwhelming vegetable garden, as well as a deeply insightful daily yoga and meditation practice.
